'We Need To Talk About Kevin' Cover Concept
One of three cover concepts from my final year of university, themed around psychological thriller novels, with a focus on atmospheric illustration and lighting. Novel summary: 'We Need to Talk About Kevin' by Lionel Shriver is a psychological novel told entirely through letters from Eva Khatchadourian to her husband. In them, she reflects on her fraught relationship with her son Kevin, who commits a horrific act of mass violence at his school. Revisiting his childhood, Eva is haunted by a single question: was Kevin's darkness shaped by her own ambivalence toward motherhood, or was something in him simply, irreparably wrong? The novel is a searing exploration of guilt, responsibility, and the uncomfortable truths of parenthood, asking how well we can ever truly know the people we raise.
